Boundless is proud to announce the creation of its academic engagement initiative. Innovation in education drives the foundation of this initiative. Boundless is committed to FOSS4G education with a focus on:

  • Providing students and educators with the preeminent open source GIS platform at no cost.
  • Helping educators and educational institutions develop curricula around FOSS4G.
  • Assisting graduating students in finding a place in the professional workforce.
  • Supporting OSGeo Geo4All initiative by providing content to the community.

Boundless Suite, powered by PostGIS/ GeoServer / OpenLayers / QGIS is the cornerstone of the plan and includes technology and related material. The academic engagement plan also includes tutorials, related datasets and graphics kit to support faculty and staff to develop curricula. Boundless staff are available to speak to university students, faculty and staff about the latest trends in open source GIS and the state of the Boundless Suite.

Other components of the plan include opportunities for community participation, internships, and job placement.
