The United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and EUROCONTROL hosted the Air Transportation Information Exchange Conference August 30 – September 1, 2011 at the NOAA Auditorium and Science Center in Silver Spring, MD.
After the publication of AIXM (Aeronautical Information eXchange Model), the introduction of WXXM (the Weather information eXchange Model), this year FIXM (the Flight Information eXchange Model) was introduced. FIXM is a data interchange format for sharing information about flights throughout their lifecycle and aims to increase interoperability among all air traffic stakeholders by mediating interactions between Air Traffic Management systems, airspace users, transportation authorities, security and defense authorities, logistics and transportation providers, and many more.
