The position is placed at the Department of Earth Sciences and is directed towards Geoinformatics including GIS, remote sensing and environmental modelling.
The Department of Earth Sciences has four subject areas including Geography/Physical Geography,
Oceanography, Geology, and Marine Geology. Recently, a strategic program for the Department has been established, which proposes a further strengthening of climate research including regional climate change and its impact on society.
This appointment is linked to the recently appointed August Röhss Professorship and will be an important step in the realization of the strategic program. The emphasis on Geoinformatics will contribute to the desired integration of various research groups in the Department, and will increase collaboration with other institutions within and outside the University.
